Tuesday — Police charged Devon A. Bunnell, 18, of Butler in connection with three shoplifting incidents this month at the Pullman Square Kmart store.Bunnell is suspected of stealing a Verizon cell phone Jan. 6 and a Samsung DVD player Jan. 7. Store employees were unable to catch him either time and they did not know his identity.Bunnell allegedly took another Verizon cell phone Jan. 12. Police were called after he fled the store. Officers about 9 p.m. spotted him beside the former Shop-n-Save store near the Kmart.He admitted he took the cell phone, which officers found in his back pack, police said. He is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of retail theft.Friday — Matthew J. Murphy, 39, of Gibsonia was charged with theft stemming from a bad check he gave to a friend who was helping him buy a car last year.The friend, a 33-year-old Butler Township woman, told police that she met with Murphy Nov. 25 at the Butler Armco Employees Credit Union at Pullman Square. He told her he was buying a car and needed $1,800.The woman agreed to help, police said, after Murphy told her that he had just opened a new checking account at PNC Bank but he could not access those funds for several days.Murphy wrote the woman a check for $1,800 that she deposited into her credit union account. In turn, documents said, she withdrew $1,800 from that same account. She gave Murphy the money.But on Nov. 28, she learned that the suspect's check had been returned and marked “account closed.”The woman told police that she contacted Murphy and demanded restitution. He admitted owing her the money but he still has not repaid her.He is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of theft by deception

Wednesday — Robert L. Fajerski, 43, of Butler was charged with driving under the influence stemming from a weekend traffic stop.Police said Fajerski about 11:35 p.m. Saturday crashed into parked car in the Eat N Park parking lot on New Castle Road and fled.An employee at the Sheetz on New Castle Road also reported an intoxicated man in the store. The man left in a Chevrolet Impala matching the description of the car involved in the hit-and-run.A township officer conducted a traffic stop on Fajerski's car a short time later on Whitestown Road.In addition to DUI, he is charged with hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving.

1:52 a.m. Wednesday — Ashley R. Stevenson, 31, of was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Stewart Avenue.12:30 a.m. Tuesday — Joshua A. Monks, 26, of Franklin, Venango County, was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Liberty Street.

3 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Jordan A. Hudek, 26, of Ford City slammed into a guardrail after fishtailing out of control on Route 422 just west of Glade Run Road in East Franklin Township. Hudek was cited for driving too fast for conditions.12:30 p.m. Tuesday — Todd R. Dennington, no age given, of Fenelton was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after he crashed on Route 422 and Mushroom Farm Road in West Franklin Township.

4:14 p.m. Wednesday — Jason B. Williams, 43, of Mercer lost control of his minivan on slush and crashed into a ditch on Route 965 just west of Sandy Lake Grove City Road in Worth Township, Mercer County. The van ended up on its driver's side.
