BUTLER TWP — Penn State Extension will host a workshop for landowners receiving royalty checks for leasing property for natural gas drilling from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 16 in the Butler Township Park Building, 468 S. Duffy Road.The workshop, Shale Mineral Management: Understanding Your Royalty Check, will provide information to help royalty owners understand how current drilling production and use trends can affect their royalties.There is no fee to attend. Former Butler Mayor Maggie Stock was appointed Thursday night by city council to serve on the Butler Transit Authority Board.Stock will be one of six board members, three of whom are selected by the city. The other three are appointed by Butler Township.Her term of the appointment is 5 years.

HARRISBURG — State Rep. R. Lee James, R-64th, this week was assigned to four committees in the state House.He will serve on the Commerce, Finance, Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness, and the Local Government committees for the 2015-2016 legislative season.
