SV girls cruise past North Hills

Seneca Valley strengthened its chances of making the WPIAL Class AAAA girls basketball playoffs with a dominating 59-25 win at North Hills Thursday night.

Melissa Carter managed a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Raiders (10-6, 5-3). Michaela Lamont added 12 points, Christina Dunning 11 points and Erin Danik eight points and 12 boards.

Hunter Kepple scored twice for the Yellowjackets (11-5-1). Dom Digiacobbe made 26 saves in net for Freeport.

Swimming

Tabitha Donaldson won the 100 and 200 freestyle events and Ben Shumway the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle, but Slippery Rock’s girls and boys fell to Titusville by scores of 91-79 and 105-54, respectively.

First Baptist Christian (boys) 87, Cambria Christian 39 — Javier Iglesia scored 31 points, grabbed 10 steals and eight assists for FBC. Trevor Barnhart had 28 points, 20 rebounds and five steals, Aaron Drake 16 points, Cameron Karnes 10 points and 18 rebounds.

Cambria Christian 48, FBC (girls) 47 — Hannah Roth scored 29 points for FBC, sinking four treys, and had eight rebounds. Lydia Roth added 12 points, six rebounds and five steals.
