Friday — Police charged Michael A. McCoppin, 28, of Butler stemming from separate shoplifting-related incidents earlier this month at the Butler Commons' WalmartMcCoppin was caught about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after he attempted to return a Kuerig coffee maker that he had just taken off a store shelf, according to a police report. He tried to redeem the coffee maker, valued at $168, for a Walmart gift card.Police said store surveillance video showed that McCoppin on Jan. 15, 17 and 19 also tried to return merchandise that he had taken off store shelves, or in one case stole another Kuerig coffee maker.A search of the suspect turned up seven empty stamp bags of suspected heroin.He is charged with two counts of theft by deception and charges of attempted theft by deception, retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.7:32 a.m. Thursday — Cars driven by Mathew G. Nilsson, 19, of Butler and Shad Bailey, 36, of Lyndora collided at South Duffy and Whitestown roads. Nilsson was cited for making an improper left turn.Jan. 19 — David S. Keffalas, 62, of Renfrew was charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash earlier this month.Police said Keffalas on Jan. 13 drove away after he struck another car on New Castle Road hill. The other driver provided the suspect's license plate number.Keffalas is charged with hit-and-run, careless driving and following too closely to another vehicle.

1:30 a.m. Sunday — A suspect made off with a wallet during a suspected home invasion in the 1100 block of Fifth Avenue in Ford City.The burglar got inside the 36-year-old man's house after kicking in the back door. The suspect, dressed in a green and white flannel shirt, displayed a toy gun and demanded the victim's money. The burglar took the victim's wallet that was on a table and left.5:22 a.m. Saturday — Devin P. Milliken, 30, of Worthington was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Worthington Slat Lock Road in West Franklin Township. Milliken was arrested after he stopped his vehicle in oncoming traffic.1:40 p.m. Wednesday — Jessica M. Smith, 20, of Ford City lost control of her sport utility vehicle and hit an embankment before rolling onto its side on Garretts Run in Manor Township. Police cited Smith for driving too fast for conditions, disregarding traffic lanes and not wearing a seat belt.11:20 a.m. Jan. 18 — A car driven by Victoria L. Olcus, 59, of East Brady rolled onto its roof after crashing into an embankment on Kaylor Frogtown Road in Bradys Bend Township. Olcus lost control of her vehicle due to icy conditions.

8:33 p.m. Saturday — Icy road conditions were blamed for a two-car accident in Pine Township, Mercer County. The wreck happened when a car driven by Joshua A. Hoppe, 24, of New Wilmington slid through a stop sign at Route 208 and Irishtown Road.Hoppe's car struck the front driver's side of the other car, driven by Cecil M. Bevan, 81, of Jackson Township, before hitting the guardrail.
