10:06 a.m. Monday — Nicholas R. Serafine, 29, of Butler Township was hurt in a two-car wreck at Pillow Street and Hansen Avenue. The crash happened when cars driven by Serafine and Donald W. Baum, 48, of New Bethlehem, Clarion County collided.Serafine, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury but refused medical treatment.4:02 a.m. Friday — Elmer C. Scherder Jr., 48, no known address, was arrested after police caught him with nearly a dozen stamp bags of suspected heroin in the parking lot of a convenience store on West Jefferson Street.Officers were called to the store for a woman trying to illegally use an Access card and saw Scherder getting out of a van. They also found Taylor Lynn Wilcox, 20, of Harmony in the van and Selena Y. Klapheke, 19, of Butler outside the van.While speaking to Wilcox, police noticed a stamp bag of suspected heroin and other drug contraband next to her and on the floor of the van, which Scherder owns.Police later searched Scherder and found him with 10 bags of suspected heroin in one of his pockets. Klapheke, who was found with a bag of suspected heroin, was arrested for public intoxication.Aided by the department's K-9 officer, police also turned up three used hypodermic needles and a crack pipe in the van.Scherder was arraigned on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.Klapheke and Wilcox are both charged with misdemeanor drug possession. Additionally, police cited Klapheke public intoxication.

Monday — Police issued traffic tickets to both drivers in a rear-end accident about 4:10 p.m. Jan. 3 at Route 68 near Ritenour's Car Wash. Jeremy S. Isaacson, 28, of East Brady, Clarion County, who caused the crash, and Kelly M. Sweeney, 40, of Butler were each cited for driving a vehicle without valid inspection.7:11 p.m. Sunday — Judith A. Reitlinger, 46, of Butler allegedly failed to scan $356 worth of groceries at the self checkout register at the Butler Commons' Walmart. She is charged with misdemeanor retail theft.4:34 p.m. Sunday — Bryan Lee Griffith, 33, of Butler was arrested after he was stopped leaving the Target store at Butler Commons with a Dyson vacuum cleaner for which he did not pay. The merchandise is valued at $412.Griffith, who has two prior shoplifting convictions, is charged with felony retail theft. He also is charged with a misdemeanor count of theft.6:55 p.m. Friday — Janet M. Petroci, 68, of Butler was arrested after she was caught allegedly shoplifting $40 worth of merchandise from the Kohl's store at the Butler Crossing shopping plaza.A repeat offender, Petroci is charged with a felony count of retail theft and a misdemeanor count of theft.

2:59 a.m. Jan. 20 — Tyler W. Herndon, 26, of Grove City was arrested for drunken driving in the 400 block of Woodland Avenue. Herndon is charged with driving under the influence.State Police, ButlerSunday — A burglar made off with a Vizio flat-screen television after kicking in the door of a 21-year-old woman's apartment on Harmony Road in Slippery Rock Township. The break-in happened Saturday or Sunday.Saturday — Someone between 4 and 4:30 a.m. broke into a coin machine at the West Sunbury Car Wash on Main Street in West Sunbury and stole about $1,000. Damage to the machine was estimated at $3,200.Police did not say if they have any suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.

7:01 p.m. Saturday — Three people were hurt when a pickup truck crashed and rolled in Irwin Township. Jordon L. Johnson, 20, of Knox, Clarion County, lost control of the pickup when it fishtailed on Interstate 80. The truck slammed into an embankment and flipped side over side several times, landing on its wheels.While the truck was flipping, one of Johnson's two passengers, Casondra M. Schill, 17, of Tionesta, Forest County, was thrown out of the vehicle.Johnson, Schill and the other passenger, Douglas M. Comer, 18, of Bradford, McKean County, all were taken to the Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries. All three were wearing seat belts.The Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department and Clintonville Ambulance assisted at the scene. Police cited Johnson for driving too fast for conditions.State Police, Mercer3:24 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Jordan B. Armstrong, 24, of Stoneboro spun out of control and struck an embankment on Route 985 just east of Sandy Lake Grove City Road in Worth Township, Mercer County.1:50 p.m. Monday — Jon W. Jarzenske, 46, of Grove City lost control of his truck tractor and struck the back of a sport utility vehicle on Ridge Road about one-quarter mile south of Route 268 in Findley Township. The other driver, Jack A. Greenfield Jr., 50, of Greenville, swerved his SUV but was unable to avoid the collision.Police said the SUV traveled down an embankment while the truck slid to a stop.

1:40 p.m. Thursday — A Grove City teenager is accused of vandalizing a flagpole at a home in the 1800 block of Shaw Road in Washington Township, Lawrence County. Police said 19-year-old Dakota J. Emery pulled the pole from the ground and damaged it. He faces a charge of criminal mischief.
