Administrators ready for switch

SR changes get OK from board

SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — Administrators in the Slippery Rock School District will be moving around in the 2015-16 school year.

The high school, which currently has a principal and assistant principal, will have a principal for academic affairs and a principal for student affairs.

Cory Hake, current middle school principal, will become the principal for academic affairs and Matt Lafko, current principal at Moraine Elementary School, will become the principal for student affairs.

Jake Jefferis, high school assistant principal, will become the middle school principal. High school Principal Kristie Shulsky will become the principal at Moraine.

Superintendent Alfonso Angelucci said that Jefferis is prepared to lead his own school and that Shulsky’s tenure at the high school led to two state distinctions for student achievement during the past two years, and said that could lead to more districtwide impact at the elementary school.

Herb Basham, who has been the principal at Slippery Rock Elementary School for a long time, will stay in his position.

“We have a strong group of administrators, each with a specific skill set. The moves are being made to capitalize on their talents in order to move the entire district forward,” Angelucci said.

The school board approved the moves Monday evening.

“While the current administrative alignment is satisfactory, these moves are intended to further advance our school district instructionally,” said Polly Shaw, school board president.
