PENN TWP — Three people and a dog were injured Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 8 and Airport Road.

The Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department, township police and Butler Ambulance responded to the scene just after 1:30 p.m.

An SUV and a car collided in the southbound lane of Route 8 at the intersection. Authorities at the scene did not comment further on the accident, and police were not available this morning.

Warren Pryde of Pittsburgh, a passer-by at the scene, said he was driving south on Route 8 at the time of the crash.

Pryde, who stopped and assisted emergency crews, said an elderly couple were in the SUV and had a dog in the back seat.

An elderly woman was driving the car.

Pryde said all three victims were conscious at the scene, as was the dog.

Each of the victims was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.

A veterinarian was called to the scene to check on the dog. The animal’s condition was not available.

Both vehicles were towed.

The crash temporarily shut all lanes of traffic on Route 8.
