These items have been collected from various police departments.

Butler Police

Tuesday — Police charged Tiffany M. Kroll, 28, of Connoquenessing Township with shoplifting $20 worth of merchandise at the Family Dollar store at Pullman Square last week. She allegedly took the items about 2:20 p.m. Dec. 19 and drove away in a sport utility vehicle.

Police stopped Kroll a short time later and found the stolen property in the vehicle. They also found her carrying a hypodermic needle. A search of the vehicle turned up an additional syringe and other drug contraband, according to court documents.

Kroll is charged with misdemeanor retail theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Tuesday — Angie May Whitman, 34, of Butler was charged with shoplifting a purse and cosmetics at the Kmart store at Pullman Square last week. Police said she was spotted taking the items, valued at $215, at 3:34 p.m. Feb. 13.

Whitman is charged with misdemeanor retail theft.

7:49 p.m. Monday — Adam M. Spinner, 25, no known address, is accused of swiping a piggy bank and money from a home in the 400 block of Shore Street.

The tenants who live there told police that they had allowed Spinner to stay with them for a few days because he apparently was homeless, according to court documents. Soon after he left, the victims discovered the piggy bank with $35 inside missing.

Also reported taken was $24 that was inside a second piggy bank.

One of the tenants, Megan Nunez, told police that she later texted Spinner, who admitted taking the property but that he would return it, documents said. However, he did not return it and police charged him with theft.

3:54 p.m. Monday — Jonathan A. Lubinsky, 31, no known address, was caught allegedly shoplifting a pair of Ray-Ban sunglass frames at Dittman’s Eye Care on North Main Street. The frames are valued at $277.50.

Lubinsky, who has a Dec. 19 shoplifting case pending in Philadelphia Municipal Court, is charged with misdemeanor retail theft.

2:10 p.m. Monday — Beatrice G. Cochran, 26, of Butler faces a pair of charges after she suffered an apparent heroin overdose at West North and North Jackson streets.

Good Samaritans were tending to Cochran, who was semi-conscious, when police and paramedics got there, court documents said. Medics gave her the drug naloxone, which is used to reverse the effects of heroin.

While treating her, police said, rescuers found a used syringe underneath her body. After coming to, documents said, Cochran admitted she shot up two bags of heroin. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

Cochran is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.

Butler Twp Police

Wednesday — Gary E. Waller Jr., 33, of New Castle was charged with drunken driving stemming from a crash last month on Whitestown Road. Police said Waller suffered unknown injuries about 12:55 a.m. Jan. 31 when his vehicle struck a utility pole.

In addition to driving under the influence, Waller is charged with driving a vehicle without valid inspection, driving with improper tires and careless driving.

Wednesday — Police charged two out-of-county women with shoplifting at the Butler Commons’ Walmart last week. The suspects — Darlene C. Kelleher, 53, of Pittsburgh and Barbara A. Greenawalt, 47, of Ellwood City — allegedly failed to pay for $790.36 in merchandise about 6:15 p.m. Feb. 18.

Because she had at least two prior shoplifting arrests, Kelleher is charged with felony retail theft. Greenawalt is charged with misdemeanor retail theft.

4:40 p.m. Friday — No injuries were reported in a three-vehicle wreck on New Castle Road near South Duffy Road. The crash happened when a car driven by Anthony M. Smiley, 21, of Pulaski, Lawrence County, struck the back of another vehicle driven by Steven Kromer, 31, of Nu Mine, Armstrong County.

The rear-end collision forced Kromer’s vehicle into the back of a car driven by Ruth Druschel, 59, of Butler. Police cited Smiley for driving too fast for conditions.

State Police, Butler

Tuesday — An unknown vandal apparently shot three bullet holes into a mailbox, valued at $100, at a home in the 300 block of Fairmont Road in Fairview Township. The vandalism happened between 3 and 3:30 a.m. Anyone with information is asked to call 724-284-8100.
