How much snow falls still to be seen

Will Butler County get another blast of snow this weekend?

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a winter storm watch for late Saturday night to Monday morning, saying there is the potential for 4 to 8 inches of snow.

However, meteorologist Lee Hendricks said there is a chance there will not be that much snow. He said the storm system still has not formed and the weather service is trying to determine the exact conditions.

“It’s like nailing Jell-O to a wall,” Hendricks said Saturday morning.

A storm watch means that it is possible or likely that a storm will happen, he said, but it does not mean a storm is imminent like a storm warning.

Snow will start Sunday and continue throughout the day. Hendricks said there also may be rain in the afternoon and evening. If this happens, he said heavy snow accumulation is unlikely. Temperatures will hit a high in the mid 30s.

Saturday morning, temperatures dipped as low as 11 below zero at 5:30 a.m.

Hendricks said that likely will not happen again for a while since high temperatures are expected to hit the low 40s on Tuesday and Wednesday.
