Butler Police

8:09 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Randall S. Parker of Karns City and a sport utility vehicle driven by Cindy L. Sabish, 53, of Butler collided at East Jefferson and North Monroe streets.

Thursday — Police charged Delmar E. Silk, 56, with vandalizing a tenant’s door and a surveillance camera last week at the apartment building where he lives in the 300 block of East Penn Street. Silk allegedly wielded a baseball bat Feb. 18, hitting and damaging the door of the 36-year-old tenant. Silk also used the bat to smash the tenant’s security camera that was mounted outside the door, a police report said.

The camera sustained about $180 in damage. The damage to the door was not known. Silk is charged with criminal mischief.

Butler Twp. Police

Friday — Matthew W. Sheppeck, 21, of Butler was charged with driving under the influence in connection with a crash about 2:20 a.m. Feb. 14 on Delwood Road. In addition to DUI, he is charged with driving too fast for conditions and driving with faulty tires.

9:05 p.m. Wednesday — Stephen A. Oblinsky, 28, of Butler was caught smoking suspected marijuana after police were called to the 11th Frame bar on Fairground Hill Road. He is charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness.

State Police, Butler

12:11 p.m. Sunday — Robert L. Watson, 89, of Slippery Rock was hurt when he lost control of his car on slush, crossed over the road and overturned on an embankment on Route 8 in Clay Township. Watson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to the Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries. Watson was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road.

Sunday — A vandal broke off the door of a mailbox at a home in the 400 block of Chicora Road in Oakland Township. The vandalism happened between 3 and 3:30 a.m.

3:14 a.m. Saturday — Police suspect Aaron J. Banks, 29, of Karns City was driving drunk when his car struck an embankment and crashed into two trees along Route 38 in Concord Township. Banks, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries

6:51 p.m. Thursday — Three people were hurt, one seriously, when a sport utility vehicle driven by Ronald W. Zorn Jr., 49, of Harmony rear-ended another SUV on the Interstate 79 on-ramp at Little Creek Road in Harmony.

The crash spun the other vehicle, driven by Christa A. Pelissero, 41, of Bentleyville, Washington County, out of her lane. Pelissero suffered moderate injuries. She was treated at a local hospital.

A medical helicopter flew Pelissero’s passenger, Brett W. Bartolotta, 40, of Monongahela, Washington County, to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with a injuries described as “major.”

Terri M. Zorn, 56, of Harmony, a passenger in the other vehicle, suffered minor injuries. Both drivers and both passengers were wearing seat belts.

Police cited Ronald Zorn for careless driving and driving an unregistered vehicle.

State Police, Franklin

12:20 a.m. Sunday — A 39-year-old Slippery Rock man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle got stuck in a snow bank on Route 38 about one-quarter mile east of the Emlenton Truck Plaza in Scrubgrass Township.

State Police, Kittanning

3:35 a.m. Sunday — A 22-year-old Butler man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at South Water and Walnut streets in Kittanning. Police said they stopped the suspect for driving without his vehicle’s lights on.

Thursday — Bruce D. Hufnagle, 54, of East Brady was charged with drunken driving stemming from a one-vehicle crash shortly after 10 p.m. Jan. 6 on Queenstown Road in Bradys Bend Township. In addition to DUI, Hufnagle is charged with careless driving.

Feb. 23 — Police charged Christopher W. Shick, 24, of Jefferson Township, Butler County, with DUI in connection with a single-vehicle wreck just after midnight Dec. 24 on Freeport Road near Community Park Road in South Buffalo Township. Shick also is charged with careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.

4:52 p.m. Feb. 23 — Corey Booth, 24, of Kittanning was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving on Route 28 in Buffalo Township, Butler County. Police stopped Booth’s car when they learned he had a warrant.

Booth and his passenger, a 29-year-old Rural Valley man who was police did not identify, both were found with suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia. DUI and drug charges against both men are pending lab results.

9 a.m. Feb. 17 — An icy Buffalo Bridge was blamed for a two-vehicle crash on Route 28 in South Buffalo Township. Julia A. Kerker, 57, of Kingston, Luzerne County, lost control of her car after she hit her brakes and slid into a cement barrier.

The other driver, Casey A. Bartosh, 28, of Shadyside, Allegheny County, who was behind Kerker’s car, applied his brakes but his sport utility vehicle, too, slid into the same cement barrier.
