Grove City Trade Show will return on Saturday

George Rodgers of Grove City Agway and visitor Toby Tobias talk about elephants made out of flower pots by Agway employees at the 2014 Grove City Trade Show. This year's show is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Physical Learning Center at Grove City College. Admission for adults is a dollar.

GROVE CITY — The annual Grove City Trade Show has been popular since day one.

“We were the first in the area to do something like this,” said Beth Black, executive director of the Grove City Chamber of Commerce.

The 16th event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Physical Learning Center at Grove City College. Admission is $1 for those age 18 and older and free for those under 18.

More than 100 vendors have signed up for the event. The vendors are a mix of new and older businesses in the Grove City area and beyond.

Black said the trade show is particularly exciting for new businesses, saying it is a great way for them to put their face out in the community.

“People may not have heard of them at all,” Black said.

Some vendors will be selling products, offering services or providing free samples. Each vendor also will have a door prize.

Black said at least 2,000 people are expected to come to the show. Over the years, she said the number of attendees has never dropped below 2,000.

She said the event is always popular because its well organized and easy to navigate. Additionally, it comes near the end of what is usually a long, cold winter.

“It's something to do and get out and see other people,” Black said.

The chamber will sell raffle tickets for the annual Trade Show Grand Prize Giveaway. The prize is a $2,000 “money tree.” The tree, which is a drawing of a tree, is 5 feet tall and has the logos of sponsors written on it. The winner of the raffle will get a check for $2,000. Tickets for the raffle are $1 each or $5 for six.

Parking will be available on college lots along Madison Avenue. Two shuttles from the lots to the show will be provided by the Trinity Living Center and North Liberty Presbyterian Church.
