Man gets up to 7 years for 10th DUI conviction

PITTSBURGH) — A Pittsburgh man must spend 3½ to 7 years in prison for his 10th drunken driving conviction and third in the past 10 years.

Charles Ninness, 59, was arrested shortly before 1 a.m. July 20 when police in East Deer Township say they saw his car weaving and pulled him over. Tests showed he had nearly twice the state’s legal limit of alcohol in his blood and that he was driving with a suspended license and on probation for a previous DUI.

Ninness pleaded guilty in December, and on Tuesday he was sentenced by an Allegheny County judge.

He received three to six years in prison because the offense was his third in 10 years, plus six to 12 months more for violating his probation.
