Fraternity president cited for party

CALIFORNIA — Police have cited the president of a fraternity for hosting a “disorderly” party at a house near the campus of California (Pa.) University.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 21-year-old Michael Mackowick of Pittsburgh.

University spokesman Christine Kindl says the school will address the issue with Sigma Tau Gamma’s national organization. Mackowick is president of the fraternity’s chapter at the school. The frat house is off campus in California borough.

Police say one person was knocked unconscious in a fight about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The alleged attacker was charged with simple assault and another person with resisting arrest. Several others were cited for underage drinking.

Kindl says none of the other charged or cited were students at the university but says its fraternities are “expected to be good neighbors.”
