Set a good example

I think I’ve found a parents prayer or at least a mission statement in the letter by Carrie Collins (“Unfairly judged,” March 3) that I think should be read by every person responsible for raising children in this day and age.

She states: “It was not what I wanteded but I will roll with it. I teach my children that life will not always be fair and you cannot always get what you want. They are watching me as an example, and that is an awesome responsibility. They will handle this in the same way that I am ... .”

Parents should remember that they are teachers first and their children’s friend second. I can understand that raising a child can be a hard task at times, but you must remember that we must live with the results of your work too.

God Bless Mrs. Collins.
