Ice rescuers thanked

Around 7:30 p.m. Monday, I slipped and fell on the street in front of my house. I was putting out my garbage and learned real fast what black ice looks like.

I stepped out with my left foot and slipped almost doing a split into the middle of the street. My right knee took the brunt. All I could do was lie there on the icy street trying to figure out what to do. I looked at all my neighbors’ houses. No one was around.

I saw a man walking on the street below and cried for help. He heard me and came running. He assured me he was going to help me, I warned him of my weight, and he replied. “No, no, don’t worry ma’am.” He put his arms under mine and lifted me to my feet. I was surprised anyone could do that.

I warned him about falling himself. He supported me until I reached my front door. Then he left. All this time he kept reassuring me and comforting me with the words of an experienced first responder.

I have absolutely no idea who he was, but he was an angel. I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for rescuing me from the freezing cold.

Thank you sir. You are a good Samaritan for sure, I hope God blesses you in return. Thank you.
