Patricia Balas

Patricia Cunzich Balas, 72, of Butler passed away Thursday at Life Care Hospital in Natrona Heights.

Born on Nov. 7, 1942, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Helen Galewski Cunzich.

She was employed as a private secretary for Gulf Oil Company until 1968. Following that, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

She was a survivor of breast cancer for 17 years and enjoyed crafting, sewing, knitting and especially holiday decorating of her home. She was also an avid reader and science fiction fan.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Balas, whom she married on Aug. 10, 1968; her daughter, Roberta Balas of Seven Fields; her beloved dog, “Kricket”; her sister, Kathy (John) Niederst of Shaler; her brother, Arthur (Deborah) Schulties of Wexford, and her lifelong friend, Kathy Olenic of Butler.

She was preceded in death by her fathers, Michael Cunzich and Arthur Schulties; her mother, Helen Schulties; her brother, Jeffery Schulties, and her fur kids, “Heidi” and “Cinder.”

Balas— A Memorial Mass for Patricia Cunzich Balas, who passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler.
