2:10 p.m. Monday — Three people were hurt in a multivehicle wreck at West New Castle Street and 13th Avenue. The crash happened when a pickup truck driven by Peter J. Herman, 67, of Butler struck the back of a car that was stopped on West New Castle Street to make a left turn.Terry A. Eckman, 59, of Butler, who was driving the car, and Eckman's passenger, a 2-year-old child, were both taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. Eckman was wearing a seat belt and the child was in a safety seat.Following the collision, Herman swerved his truck across the road, cutting off a pair of sport utility vehicles before hitting two other vehicles, both unoccupied, in a parking lot.Herman was bleeding about his face when officers got there, but he refused medical treatment. A police report said he suffered moderate injuries.Police cited Herman for careless driving.11:40 a.m. Monday — A pickup truck driven by Alejandro Pantoja Ortiz, 19, of Butler struck the rear driver's side of a car at West New Castle and Mercer streets. The collision spun the car driven by Audrey Nossokoff, 83, of Butler Township into a guy wire on a utility pole.

Tuesday — A 15-year-old Slippery Rock girl was charged with misdemeanor retail theft for allegedly shoplifting March 17 at the Kohl's store at Butler Crossing shopping plaza. Police said the teen, who they did not identify, was caught taking $327 worth of clothing and jewelry.Friday — Police charged Randy B. Stephenson, 53, and Terry Stephenson, 56, both of Butler, in connection with a March 7 shoplifting incident at the Butler Commons' Walmart. The suspects allegedly left the store without paying for 57 items totaling $233.Store security stopped Randy Stephenson but Terry Stephenson got away before police got there.Police said Randy Stephenson later lied about his alleged accomplice's identity.Both suspects are charged with retail theft and conspiracy. Randy Stephenson is also charged with hindering apprehension.Friday — Joseph B. Neckerman Jr., 41, of Pittsburgh was charged with drunken driving stemming from a Feb. 20 traffic stop. In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with driving with an open container of alcohol.

7:15 p.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Wendy N. Fields, 33, of Petrolia struck a utility pole along Route 68 in Chicora. Police cited Fields for disregarding traffic lanes.8:38 p.m. Monday — Tracy G. Morgan, 43, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a crash on Hall Road in Clay Township.Monday — A thief stole the license plate off a delivery van at the Eagle Printery parking lot on Bonnie Drive in Summit Township. The plate was taken between 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Monday.Sunday — A Butler man is suspected of breaking into a home on Queen Junction Road in Clay Township between March 18 and Sunday. The suspect, who police did not identify, got into the home through a back door and took a television from the living room.Police said their investigation continues

Friday — Misty L. Corbett, 30, of Ford City was arrested two days after she reported being forced into a car at a store in West Kittanning, assaulted and robbed before being let go miles away. Police said they investigated the story and determined it was “unfounded.”In turn, police charged Corbett with filing a false report to law enforcement authorities and unsworn falsifications. She was arraigned on the misdemeanor charges and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.1:44 p.m. March 18 — Paul M. Smith Jr., 26, of Pittsburgh was arrested after he allegedly got into a fracas at ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township. Police said Smith assaulted two nurses, a 28-year-old Rimersburg woman and a 51-year-old Apollo woman.The suspect also is accused of assaulting a 63-year-old Armstrong County Jail officer who had taken Smith to the hospital for treatment of an unknown injury or illness.Smith was arraigned on three felony charges of aggravated assault and three misdemeanor charges each of simple assault, criminal mischief, harassment and disorderly conduct, and sent to the county jail on $50,000 bail.2:30 p.m. March 13 — Brett Alan Walker, 32, of Ford City was arrested after he allegedly shoplifted $123 in merchandise from the Walmart at Hilltop Plaza in East Franklin Township. Walker got away from the store but troopers nabbed him nearby at a restaurant parking lot in the township.Police said they searched the suspect and found him with empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and hypodermic needles. Walker also had the stolen store items with him, according to a police report.Walker was arraigned on a charge of retail theft and 11 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $5,000 bail following arraignment.

Friday — A thief stole a 2009 Toyota Prius from the parking lot at Premium Outlets in Springfield Township The theft happened between 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 2 a.m. Friday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.

6:20 a.m. Thursday — A car driven by Dylan J. Yaromey, 31, of Fombell, Beaver County, struck a deer on Route 488 just east of Wehman Lane in Perry Township.March 16 — Police charged Sara Lynn Huey, 24, of New Castle with assaulting a 22-year-old woman about 7:30 p.m. March 13 at a home on Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The victim, who police did not immediately identify, was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries.Police from the Butler barracks took the initial report and forwarded it to the New Castle station.Huey is charged with two counts each of simple assault and harassment.
