Butler Police

12:44 a.m. Wednesday — A Slippery Rock man was nearly 3½ times the legal limit for alcohol when he was pulled over on Center Avenue after crossing the double yellow lines and going twice the 25 mph speed limit on the East Wayne Street viaduct.

Joshua A. Fajohn, 25, after failing field sobriety tests, proclaimed, “I'm drunk,” and was arrested, court documents said. A breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.271 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

In addition to driving under the influence, Fajohn is charged with disregarding traffic lanes and disobeying traffic control devices.

1:52 p.m. Tuesday — Patricia J. Kradel, 68, of Butler was arrested for drunken driving after she showed up at the police station to make a report of drug activity in the 300 block of East Penn Street.

An officer smelled alcohol on Kradel's breath while speaking with her. She admitted she had been drinking and later submitted to a breath test. Her blood-alcohol level was 0.18 percent, more than twice the state's 0.08 percent legal limit.

Kradel, who has no prior criminal history and a clean driving record, is charged with DUI.

Tuesday — Ozell Newsome, 59, of Butler was charged with misdemeanor theft by deception for passing a bad check March 3 to Larry Gregg for a $60 vehicle repair job at Gregg's garage on North Jackson Street. Newsome wrote the check on a closed bank account.

Monday — Police charged Jack C. Otte Jr., 36, of Butler Township with felony trespass after he went into a home in the 500 block of Carbon Street about 4:45 a.m. March 8 without the tenant's permission.

Butler Twp Police

Wednesday — Wanda A. Dumot, 50, of Freeport was charged with driving under the influence stemming from a rear-end crash March 7 on Freeport Road at Saxonburg Road. The wreck left the other driver, Ross Robinson, 54, of New Castle, with minor injuries.

Dumot is charged with DUI and careless driving.

Wednesday — Police charged Dustin Lee Kriess, 21, of Butler with drunken driving after they found his vehicle stopped about 1:40 a.m. Feb. 22 on Greenwood Drive. In addition to DUI, Kriess is charged with driving with a suspended license-DUI related and driving without a license.

Wednesday — Police charged Steven W. Charlton Sr., 38, of Butler with DUI in connection with a Feb. 19 traffic stop on New Castle Road. He also was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.

Tuesday — Danielle M. Edinger, 22, of Renfrew was charged with drunken and drugged driving in connection with a one-car crash at 12:18 a.m. March 1 on the Picklegate Crossing. A witness told police that Edinger was speeding before she lost control of her car and struck the cement barrier on the bridge.

She is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and reckless driving.

6:23 p.m. Monday — Amber S. Young, 36, of Butler was caught allegedly shoplifting $170 in merchandise from the Walmart at Butler Commons. Police said they also suspect her of taking items from the same store on three previous occasions and returning that stolen merchandise for Walmart gift cards totaling $357.

Young is charged with retail theft and three counts of theft by deception.

Penn Twp Police

6 p.m. March 19 — Police continue to investigate a two-car crash on Route 8 that sent a Butler County woman to a Pittsburgh hospital.

The crash happened when a northbound car driven by Nicholas P. Limbert, 22, of Gibsonia crossed over all five lanes and hit the passenger side of a car that was pulling out of the parking lot at Mystic Lanes. Christopher Marshall, 57, of Cabot was the other driver.

Marshall's wife, Nancy, 57, a front-seat passenger, was treated for injuries at UPMC Presbyterian and released.

Grove City Police

Tuesday — Police filed drug charges against Courtney D. Woods, 23, stemming from the March 17 search of her home in the 300 block of Elm Street by police officers with state parole officers. The search turned up suspected marijuana, several pipes, scales and rolling papers.

Woods is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Saturday — A thief overnight stole a wallet and backpack from an unlocked vehicle in the 700 block of West Poplar Street. The gray and red backpack contained a uniform set of work clothing and personal clothing.

2:20 a.m. March 16 — Officers were called to a reported attempted carjacking at the PNC bank drive-through on West Main Street.

The alleged victim, who police did not identify, told investigators that two black males in their mid-20s approached him as sat in his silver Nissan sedan. He said one of the males asked him for a ride to Pittsburgh.

The victim recounted that when he refused, that same suspect brandished a handgun and tried to get into the vehicle. However, he drove away and flagged down a borough officer.

Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.

State Police, Butler

9:20 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Shay A. Hunter, 30, of Butler struck a deer on Route 422 east of Game Reserve Road in Clearfield Township. Hunter was uninjured but her car had to be towed.

3:30 p.m. Tuesday — A Chicora man, who police did not identify, is suspected of stealing two prescription bottles, eight packs of cigarettes and $20 from a home on State Alley in Chicora.

The suspect at the time of theft was visiting the couple's home. Police said their investigation continues.

Monday — Two kayaks and a Craftsman weed-eater were stolen from a man's home on Saniga Road in Mercer Township. The property was taken between Jan. 1 and Monday.

Saturday — A thief stole coal oil from tanks behind a woman's home on Boyers Road in Mercer Township. The theft happened between noon Friday and noon Saturday.

Saturday — A vandal knocked over and broke a lamp post in the front yard of a home on Oak Drive in Jefferson Township. The vandalism happened between 8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday.

9:31 p.m. March 15 — A car driven by Emily N. Sahli, 21, of Cranberry Township struck a guardrail on Route 528 in Jackson Township. Police cited Sahli for driving at an unsafe speed.

Feb. 17 — An unknown identity thief filed a tax return in the names of a Center Township couple, both in the their late-70s.

State Police, Franklin

Monday — A vandal damaged the entrance door to a school bus at the Clintonville Head Start on Park Street in Clintonville. The vandalism happened between 3 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Monday.

State Police, Kittanning

7:01 p.m. Wednesday — Milton P. Lewis, 31, of Supply, N.C., was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana on Route 28 in East Franklin Township.

7 p.m. Tuesday — A dog bite case in a Madison Township neighborhood ended with 40-year-old Micki L. Fink facing three charges. Police said Fink's pit bull attacked a neighbor's dog on Madison Road.

After the canine fight, Fink went to the home of the other dog owner and started arguing with him. At one point, according to a police report, Fink entered the alleged victim's home and threatened to fight the man.

Police said Fink is charged with trespass, harassment and failing to confine his dog.
