Power surge lifts SRU

The Slippery Rock University baseball team used the longball to dispatch Walsh University in a doubleheader sweep in North Canton, Ohio, Tuesday afternoon.

The Rock (13-12) hit five home runs in a 9-4 win in the first game and then edged Walsh 7-6 in the second game.

The five homers in Game 1 were the most in a game for SRU since 2009.

The Rock has now hit 12 home runs in its last five games.

Logan Brown hit a pair of home runs in the first-game win. Tyler Walters, Adam Urbania and Alex Bell also went deep for SRU.

Adam Constantino went the distance for SRU to get the win on the mound.

In the second game, Seneca Valley graduate Carson Kessler went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI to lead The Rock’s 12-hit attack.

Geoff Sanner picked up the win in relief and James Divosevic nocthed his third save of the season.
