SRU baseball gets sweep of Seton Hill

Slippery Rock Univerity’s baseball team was looking for a rebound after a disappointing Saturday.

The Rock bounced back in the best way possible.

SRU swept No. 5 nationally ranked Seton Hill University with 4-1 and 7-6 wins Sunday at Jack Critchfield Field.

The wins came after The Rock (19-14, 10-10) blew a seven-run lead Saturday against Seton Hill in a 13-12 loss.

SRU never trailed in Game 1 and benefitted from eight strikeouts from pitcher Kyle Schneider.

Ty Zimmerman also drove in three runs and had a walk-off single in the nightcap.

Butler graduate Cody Herald doubled, had an RBI and scored twice for the Griffins in Game 2.

Lacrosse

The SRU women’s lacrosse team jumped out to a four-goal lead and held on for a 13-10 win over Edinboro at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

Caitlynn Palladino led The Rock (5-7, 3-4) with three goals.

Softball

Cold bats doomed Slippery Rock University to a pair of losses — 4-1 and 5-4 — against Edinboro at the SRU Softball Complex.

In Game 1, SRU hit 3-for-18 with runners on bases in an extra-innings loss. Shortstop Katie Kaiser led The Rock (9-15, 6-8) with four hits.

Women’s Tennis

SRU went 1-2 at the Bloomsburg Duals.

The Rock beat Philadelphia University 5-2 before losing 5-0 to Goldey-Beacom and 5-4 to the University of Charleston.

The Rock fell to 9-9 on the season.
