Spurk, McConnell 80th birthdays

Twins Nancy Spurk of Butler and Rodney Lynn McConnell of Muncie, Ind., celebrated their 80th birthdays with an open house at Whitestown Road Baptist Church in Butler.

They were born March 14, 1935, in what is now Cranberry Township.

The former Nancy McConnell married the late James W. Spurk on March 14, 1952, at home in Cranberry Township.

She has six children, James R. Spurk of Portersville, Kathie R. Rock of Kearney, Mo., Larry D. Spurk of New Castle, Laurie A. Spurk of Butler, Michael D. Spurk of Kissimmee, Fla., and Mark S. Spurk of Auburndale, Fla.

She also has 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She is a homemaker and a longtime member of Whitestown Road Baptist Church. She is a member of Sweet Adelines.

Rodney Lynn McConnell married the former Lois Ann Patterson on June 16, 1956, at the Evangelical Reformed Church in Greenville.

He has five children, Terry McConnell of Hermitage, the late Bonnie Carothers of Jackson Center, the late David McConnell of Peachtree City, Ga., Linda Masters of Sharpsville and Edward McConnell of Sharpsburg, Ga.

He also has 10 grandchildren and three, soon-to-be four, great-grandchildren.

McConnell was a design draftsman for Westinghouse Electric with 38 years of service.
