Spring Art Show starts next week

An accent table made of cherry on top and rhododendron branches below by Bill Burkhart of Saxonburg is among the artworks entered in the annual Spring Art Show at The Art Center.

The annual Spring Art Show is scheduled April 22 to May 22 at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St.

The show is being judged by two member artists.

Awards will include cash and ribbons for Best of Show and first, second and third places in each of the following categories: painting (oil, acrylic and watercolor); drawing (pencil, pen and ink, pastel); photography and digital art; mixed media and collage; 3D (sculpture, fiber art and ceramics); and printmaking.

A reception and awards ceremony will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. April 24. Light refreshments will be served, and the Harmony Hot Haus band will perform.

ClassesA class with award-winning artist Tom Sheehan of Butler will cover watercolor, drawing, and oil painting. Call for class times and costs.A class on The “Art” of the Fountain Pen with Steve Harding is planned for 2 to 4 or 6 to 8 p.m. April 23. In this two-hour class for adults, participants will be introduced to the types of liquid reservoir and nib tipped writing instruments. Fee is $20 per person per class and includes a fountain pen.
