Butler Police

11:54 a.m. Sunday — A 36-year-old woman reported that an unknown intruder attacked her with mace or pepper spray at her apartment in the 300 block of Walker Avenue.

The woman told police that she was sleeping in her apartment when she awoke to find someone standing in her home. The intruder was wearing sunglasses and dark colored hooded sweat shirt with the hood pulled up. Because of the disguise, the woman was unable to say if the suspect was a man or woman.

The intruder rummaged through the woman’s purse before leaving. Nothing was reported taken and the woman apparently was not hurt. Police said their investigation continues.

Sunday — Police reported that Mandy J. Martin, 28, of Lyndora was more than four times the legal limit for alcohol when she caused a wreck last month on Hansen Avenue. Martin just before 5 p.m. March 17 pulled out of the 7-Eleven parking lot and into the path of another car.

Tracy Betro, 44, of Butler, the other driver, was unable to stop in time, and struck Martin’s car. Martin was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Results showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.33 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Police said Martin is charged with driving under the influence.
