2 Buffalo Twp accidents injure both drivers

BUFFALO TWP — Two drivers were hurt this morning in separate one-vehicle wrecks in the township, authorities said.

The drivers, both men, were taken to hospitals following the accidents. Their names were not immediately available.

Buffalo Township police are investigating but they did not return a telephone call.

The first crash happened about 3:10 a.m. when the driver lost control of his car and struck a guardrail on Route 28 near the Route 356 bridge. He was taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, Allegheny with minor injuries, rescuers said.

Buffalo Township volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene. The firefighters were barely home after that call when they were summoned for the second accident.

The driver in that wreck was westbound on Ekastown Road about 5:30 a.m. when he lost control of his Ford Focus, said Chief Matt Cypher of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company.

The car traveled off the road and continued through the Roenigk bus company parking lot, hitting an unoccupied mini school bus, a sign and fencing.

A 911 caller reported finding the driver unresponsive. But he was conscious when emergency crews got there, Cypher said.

The driver had moderate head and neck injuries. A Saxonburg Ambulance crew took him to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.
