Moniteau trio, KC's Moroney get KSAC honor

Sports- Head Coach Randy Collins holds a meeting with pitcher Matt Yough in high school baseball action Wednesday afternoon between Karns City and Cranberry. Cranberry dealt Karns City a loss in the District IX baseball playoffs by the score 5-1.

Moniteau’s Brendon Stamm and Maura Kimmel have been named Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Boys and Girls Field Athletes of the Year, respectively.

Karns City’s Logan Moroney is KSAC Co-Boys Track Athlete of the Year with Clarion’s Liam Raehsler.

Moroney has the fastest time in Butler County this season in the 100 meters at 10.8 seconds and in the 200 at 22.1 seconds. Stamm has the third best distance in the county in the discus at 151 feet, 11 inches. He is fifth in the county with a shot put off 47 feet, 10 inches.

Kimmel leads all girls in the county with distances of 134-9 in the discus, 40-9.5 in the shot put.

Moniteau pitcher Kennedy DeMatteis has been named KSAC Softball Player of the Year. The Warriors’ pitcher led the once-beaten team to the KSAC championship this season.
