Orloskis execute their plan

Make improvements to All About Golf facility

FRANKLIN TWP — The Orloski family always did have a plan.

Now it’s being executed.

Jake Orloski owned the 9-hole Mount Chestnut golf course for years before selling it to his son, Wade, in August of 2013. Wade Orloski lives in Knoxville, Tenn.

His nephew, Doug, now serves as general manager of the golf facility — renamed All About Golf — and operates it on a regular basis.

“I grew up at Mount Chestnut, went to Slippery Rock High School, Butler County Community College ... I always had a vision for what it could be,” Wade said. “It’s a great place to learn the game of golf and to hone one’s short game.

“We’re promoting it now as more of a practice facility and learning center.”

All About Golf is installing heated pads for its driving range so golfers can use that portion of the facility even in chilly weather. Golfers can also hit balls into a net inside the building on the property.

Hole No.’s 5 and 6 are being altered to play dogleg right and longer. But the course will remain all par-3 and par-4 holes.

“People come out and use their irons,” Wade said. “Those clubs get a lot of work in here.

“The shorter holes play to the beginners. This is a great course to learn on.”

All About Golf is also sponsoring a free kids clinic every Sunday, beginning June 21 until school starts. Kids ages 13-15 can come out from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., ages 10-12 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., 10-under from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Golf Etc. is donating clubs to use for the clinic. Prospect Rotary Club is donating funds to help keep the clinic running.

The course will also host a unique golf scramble June 7 as a fund-raiser for the kids clinic. Only a 7-iron and putter will be permitted for use in the scramble.

After golfers play the nine holes, they will play them again from a different set of tees.

“This tournament puts a different spin on the game and golfers like it,” Wade said. “It’s definitely something different.”

Openings remain available for the tournament. Entry fee is $40 per person, $160 per team, and breakfast and lunch will be provided. The tourney starts at 8:30 a.m.

Interested golfers may call All About Golf at 724-285-1010.

“That kids clinic is a great way to be introduced to the game,” Doug Orloski said. “I’ll be doing some of the coaching and we’ll bring some local pros in to help out.”

He said he’s been cutting some trees out on the course as well.

“My grandfather did a great job with this course for a long, long time,” Doug said. “We’re making a few little changes to emphasize the assets here, what appeals to golfers.”
