Brothers sue hotel over alleged sexual assault

Two teenaged brothers who allege to have been sexually assaulted by a desk clerk while living at Candlewood Suites in Cranberry Township are suing the hotel.

The victims are not identified by name in the lawsuit, and the alleged abuser, 33-year-old Nancy A. Fields of Beaver County, is not named as a party in the lawsuit.

“She will be held accountable through the criminal justice system. The hotel also must be held accountable,” said attorney Benjamin Andreozzi of Harrisburg, who is representing the brothers.

According to the lawsuit, the boys and their mother moved from a different state to the hotel in September 2013 so that the boys’ mother could receive treatment for an unnamed “serious medical condition.”

The lawsuit alleges that while the mother was receiving medical treatment Fields befriended the boys, then “Fields’ behavior became increasingly inappropriate, manipulative and ultimately sexual,” the lawsuit alleges.

The lawsuit further alleges guests and fellow employees complained about Fields’ interaction with the boys, but hotel management did nothing to stop it.

Meantime, based on the same allegations, Fields in Butler County Court is facing 17 charges, including four counts of indecent exposure and two counts each of indecent assault and furnishing alcohol to minors.

Her next court hearing is July 15. However, a hearing could be held earlier to determine if Fields’ $10,000 bond should be revoked.
