In “Narcissistic Trump crashes GOP primary” (June 19), columnist Ann McFeaters states that Donald Trump is indeed narcissistic and vain. This he is, and I say, so what?

Most people love the guy or detest him, but many like myself feel that Trump is a refreshing voice versus the usual namby-pamby rhetoric from career politicians careful to speak the P.C. language.

In his announcement speech, McFeaters writes, Trump alienated the Chinese and insulted Mexico. Again I say, so what?

Mexicans continue to cross our border with impunity and the Mexican government is complicit, giving us her tired, her poor, her downtrodden, her jobless — and also her criminal elements.

Not to mention a sort of stealth colonialism since many Mexicans believe Texas, California, Arizona and Colorado was once theirs and we stole it from them. How’s this for insulting us, Ms. McFeaters?

China is cleaning our clock, Trump says. They are. We have a highly dysfunctional trade relationship with China. which manipulates her currency and regularly conducts cyber warfare against the United States.

Many believe Trump is in the race just for show — to promote himself. I believe The Donald deep down knows he won’t get the GOP nod. But he wants to put forth a certain way of looking at our problems that only he can articulate.

Trump is a businessman. Businessmen act. President Obama tries to resolve our problems with talk. Trump will resolve them with action. Enough talk already.

To effectively run a country you need to be a little bit of an S.O.B. Russia under Putin understands this. China, a capitalist state run by communist control understands this. America under Obama does not understand this. You can’t be Pope Francis or Mother Teresa and effectively run a country.

After Jimmy Carter, America needed a Reagan. After Obama, America needs a Trump.
