Interim superintendent hired to lead Freeport

BUFFALO TWP — The Freeport School Board on Monday night hired a substitute superintendent.

Larry Robb, the district program director, will be the substitute superintendent effective Wednesday, making $5,000 per month. He takes over for Superintendent Chris DeVivo, who is leaving Freeport to become the superintendent of the Armstrong School District.

Robb will continue both roles in the district.

Dan Lucovich, board president, said the board anticipates having a permanent superintendent by Sept. 1.

The board also hired longtime Freeport basketball and football coach Shawn Stivenson as the school and student events coordinator effective Wednesday at a salary of $58,000 per year.

He will take over Todd O’Shell’s role in overseeing athletics and bus transportation.

However, Stivenson might not also have the communications director role that O’Shell had. Lucovich said that will be determined after a new superintendent is hired.

O’Shell is leaving the district.
