Who deserves better?

Columnist Michael Smerconish in the June 30 edition complains that the president deserves better treatment. Really? I thought the people of this nation deserve better treatment.

I did not vote for President Obama but had this great hope that he could bring our country together to repair what had been regarded as the mismanagement of past presidents and Congress.

When one of his first concerns was covering the Christian symbols at Notre Dame where he was speaking, there was alarm.

When he condemned a white policeman for making a judgment to protect the home of a black citizen without the full knowledge of the circumstances, we felt uneasy. In other issues of race, his comments reflected his bias against white people.

When he returned the picture of Winston Churchill to England and rebuffed Israel, it was not diplomatic. Beheading, torture and red line, he ignored.

When he voted for abortion on demand; when he entertained Muslims in the White House celebrating Ramadan; when he promoted changing the definition of marriage; When the cross, the crib, the Bible, the Ten Commandments became un-American as the Constitution became irrelevant; when our veterans were shortchanged, etc.

Smerconish does not understand what better treatment in our country is. We also need a president who does.
