ERIE - Jane Park won the U.S. Women's Amateur, clinching her first U.S. Golf Association title when Amanda McCurdy bogeyed the 36th and final hole.

The 17-year-old Park, a runner-up last year in this tournament and the U.S. Girls' Junior, won 2-up over McCurdy, a 20-year-old junior at the University of Arkansas.

NAKHABINO, Russia - Gary Emerson birdied three of the final five holes to win the Russian Open by two strokes.It was the first career PGA European Tour victory for Emerson, who began the day two shots behind co-leaders Henrik Nystrom and Kariem Baraka.

BUDAPEST, Hungary - Michael Schumacher won the Hungarian Grand Prix, becoming the first Formula One driver with 12 victories in a season.Schumacher, who has failed to win just once this season, took the lead on the first turn and never trailed.Teammate Rubens Barrichello finished second, giving Ferrari its sixth straight constructors' championship with five races left.Schumacher also became the first to win seven consecutive races in a season. Italy's Alberto Ascari won nine straight, but that was over two seasons (1952-53) and in a different era.

SPARTA, Ky. - Adrian Fernandez posted the first win of his Indy Racing League IndyCar Series career, holding off Buddy Rice at Kentucky Speedway.Fernandez beat Rice, a three-time series winner this year, by 0.0581 of a second. Dan Wheldon, Kosuke Matsuura and series points leader Tony Kanaan rounded out the top five.

THIBODAUX, La. - Nicholls State football coach Daryl Daye was fired over accusations of academic fraud involving players and an assistant coach.Daye was not implicated in the alleged fraud, but an investigation found he failed to "maintain proper controls" of the assistant, the Southland Conference school said.
