Albert K. Leichtfuss

Leichtfuss

Albert K. Leichtfuss, 96, of Sylvan Street in Lyndora died Monday at his home.

Born Aug. 7, 1911, in Kial, Germany, he was a son of Albert and Dorothy Schmahl Leichtfuss. He was one of three sons and had three sisters.

He came to America in 1927 and became a naturalized citizen of the United States. He lived in the Lyndora area and worked at the Nixon Hotel in Butler. He and his wife, Catharine L. "Kay" Rekich Leichtfuss, whom he married June 3, 1940, moved to New York City in 1941.

He worked in numerous restaurants in New York City as a chef including the Luchaus Restaurant and at Rockefeller Center for years and lived in Manhattan until his retirement in 1976 when they returned to Lyndora.

He was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Barbara) Lovaglio of Long Island, N.Y.; four granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His son, Richard Leichtfuss, died in 1964, and his wife preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 1995.

<B>LEICHTFUSS</B> — Friends of Albert K. Leichtfuss, who died Monday, April 7, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home,</B> 201 E. Cunningham St.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.
