Milanick

Alexander "Al" Milanick, 85, of Zelienople died Thursday at UPMC Passavant Hospital.

Mr. Milanick was a 41-year member of the Park Presbyterian Church in Zelienople, where he was an elder, Sunday school teacher and youth leader. He also was a 27-year member and past president of the Zelienople Lion's Club where he designed, built and painted the Lions Cage for Horse Trading Days.

Mr. Milanick began his careers in retailing with the Higbee Co. as a buyer, and he was former owner of Lee's Men's Wear Store for nine years in Maple Heights, Ohio, The Dress Shop in Middlefield, Ohio, and the International Tie Shop in Cleveland. In 1967 he made a complete career change when he started selling funeral supplies for the Dodge Chemical Co. While at Dodge, he invented 25 instruments used by many in the funeral industry.

He was the beloved husband for 59 years of Ruth (Champe) Milanick; loving father of Mark (Margaret) Milanick, Ph.D., Alexander Jay Milanick, D.D.S., D.M.D., Julie Howar, O.T.R. and John (Anabelle) Milanick, M.D.; dear grandfather of Alexander, Christopher, Alysha and Jonathan Howar, and William, Ivan and Ariana Milanick; foster father of Silas Donahue, Carol Donahue Dulin, Rita Donahue Bleakley and the late Alvin Donahue; dear brother of the following deceased; Olga, John, Mary, Stephen, Ann, Walter, Julie, Theda, Christine and June; loving uncle and great uncle of many; and special relationship with George (Mary Pat) Bibel, Ph.D.

<B>MILANICK — </B>Friends of Alexander "Al" Milanick, who died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, will be received from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, where a memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Herbert Goetz, the Rev. Donald Ingles and the Rev.
