Stuart E. Lewis, 86, of Zelienople, formerly of Cranberry Township, died Saturday at UPMC Passavant Hospital.

Born April 19, 1924, in Glen Richey, Clearfield County, he was the son of Ross J. and Beatrice Frederick Lewis.

Mr. Lewis was a World War II Army veteran who served with the 164th Combat Engineers Battalion and was awarded five Bronze Stars.

He retired in 1992 as a construction engineer from the Mashuda Corp.

Mr. Lewis was a member of Dutilh United Methodist Church in Cranberry Township and a member of the Zelienople American Legion.

He also was an avid gardener and had his own private greenhouse.

He is survived by three daughters, Sandra Scott (Bud) of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Mary Jane Lewis of Cranberry Township and Gail Kolin of Cleveland; a son, Steven D. Lewis (Diana) of Blairsville, Ga.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Audrey Mack of Newark, Del.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Webb) Lewis, who died Nov. 19, 1997; and a sister, Barbara Reigale.

<B>LEWIS</B> — Graveside services and interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Marshall Township, for Stuart E. Lewis, who died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, are private.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Zelienople American Legion Post 474, 308 W.
