Jail guard pleads guilty to sexual assault of Evans City woman
PITTSBURGH — A former jail guard pleaded guilty this morning to the sexual assault of an Evans City woman who was in the Allegheny County Jail.
Charles Walker, 39, pleaded guilty to a charge of institutional sexual assault, a felony that can carry up to seven years in prison and 10 years on a list for sex offenders.
He will be sentenced in 90 days by Judge Donald E. Machen in Pittsburgh.
Walker admitted to investigators that he sexually assaulted Shanea Climo, 24, who was serving a two-year prison term. The Butler Eagle generally does not identify victims of sexual assaults, but Climo previously said she wants her story told so this kind of ordeal doesn't happen to other inmates.
Denise Watson, Climo's mother, said her daughter had "mixed emotions" in regards to the case but added she thought the "sentence fits the crime."
