OVERLAND PARK, Kan. Slippery Rock High School graduate and Vanderbilt University senior Jence Rhoads is one of 30 women's basketball candidates for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.

The award focuses on classroom, character, community and competition and is presented annually to an NCAA Division I student athlete in nine sports.

The class will be narrowed to 10 women's finalists midway through the regular season. Rhoads is a preseason All-SEC selection by coaches and media.

SRU football players receive honorsSLIPPERY ROCK Three Slippery Rock University football players were named ESPN Academic All-District in voting by the College Sports Information Directors of America.Junior receiver Devin Goda made the first-team while senior placekicker C.J. Bahr and junior offensive lineman Austin Fedell made the second team.Goda carries a 3.71 grade point average as a safety major. Bahr has a 3.75 and Fedell a 3.71 as sports management majors.

CHANDLER, Ariz. Slippery Rock University senior field hockey goalie Lisa Belcastro was selected to play in the 2010 Division II North-South Senior Game. at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at the University of Louisville.Belcastro has 110 saves and a .724 save percentage this season. Her goals-against average is 2.50 and she has two shutouts.The Rock is 5-12 overall, 2-5 in the PSAC West.
