Butler Police3:29 p.m. Friday — A 9-year-old boy was hurt when a car hit him on Mercer Street at Cleveland Street.Trey Sarver of Butler was knocked to the ground after he ran in front of the car that Donald L. Malinski, 26, of Clay Township was driving northbound on Mercer Street.Malinski said he slammed on his brakes but could not avoid hitting the boy, who suffered only minor injuries and did not need medical treatment.Malinski was not charged in the accident.

State Police, ButlerSunday — Numerous items worth about $5,000 were stolen in a burglary at a home on Boyers Road in Marion Township. Among the property taken were several handguns and rifles, jewelry and a flat-screen television. The break-in happened between 11:30 a.m. and 6:45 p.m.1:05 a.m. Saturday — William Kennihan, 34, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after police arrested him on at least one out-of-state warrant.Saturday — Someone broke into a Clearfield Township home and stole a set of vehicle keys and other unspecified property valued at $110. The home on Long Run Road was burglarized between 6:45 and 9:30 p.m.6 p.m. Thursday — A Butler man reported that he lost his black, Makarov 9mm pistol on Binsey Road in Summit Township or in the Penn Hills or Pittsburgh area. The gun has rubber grips. Anyone with information is asked to call police.11 p.m. Aug. 13 — A 13-year-old Butler area girl allegedly stole two cast-iron patio chairs from the front porch of a home on Hall Road in Clay Township. Police said the girl, whom they did not identify, later vandalized the chairs and dumped them.She is charged in juvenile court with theft and criminal mischief.
