Pair charged in burglary

2010 break-in at Marion Twp. Building

MARION TWP — More than two years after the township building was burglarized, state police charged two men with the crime.

One of the suspects, Matthew N. Ford, 25, is already in state prison serving time for the 2010 break-in at the Grove City Sportsman’s Club in Pine Township, Mercer County.

Ford and the other suspect, Jeffrey L. Matoskey, 22, of Boswell, Somerset County, also are accused of at least one other burglary in northern Butler County two years ago.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton last month issued arrest warrants for Ford and Matoskey stemming from the July 30, 2010, break-in at the Marion Township Building on West Sunbury Road.

A chain saw and pressure washer were stolen from the building.

Days later, police found the items, valued at a combined $700, and other unrelated stolen property, during a search of Jerry Uber’s house on Rocky Springs Road in Marion Township.

The search was part of the police investigation into a burglary at the Grove City Sportsman’s Club between July 27 and 28, 2010.

A lawn mower, tools and food items were stolen from two buildings at the club property.

Police recovered the club-owned items at Uber’s home.

Uber later admitted taking the property from Ford, according to court documents. He and Ford eventually pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property and burglary, respectively, in connection with the sportsman’s club break-in.

Uber in 2011 was sentenced to serve between 12 and 30 months in prison.

Ford in January was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison.

Uber remains at the State Correctional Institution at Pittsburgh and Ford is at SCI-Graterford in Montgomery County.

Troopers on Sept. 21 charged Ford and Matoskey with the Marion Township burglary. Both are also charged with conspiracy and receiving stolen property.

Police on Sept. 24 filed similar charges against Matoskey stemming from the August 2010 break-in of Ronald Keston’s garage on Enterprise Road in Mercer Township where an all-terrain vehicle, valued at $4,000, was stolen, documents said.

Ford is also suspected in that burglary, according to a police affidavit, but he has not been charged in the crime.
