Odley G. Macurdy
Odley G. “Jumbo” “Mac” Macurdy, 82, of Cabot passed away Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 20, 1932, in Sarver, he was the son of the late Shields Macurdy, Sr. and Alice (Risch) Macurdy.
Odley was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the USS Wisconsin during the Korean War.
He worked as a millwright for U.S. Steel and as a crane man at Trinity.
He was a lifetime member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sarver. He was also a member of the Armstrong Masonic Lodge FA&M 239 in Freeport. He was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed tinkering on machinery. He was always there to lend a helping hand.
Surviving are his loving wife, Emma D. (Brozenick) Macurdy, who he married Jan. 5, 1960; his brother, Glenn (Darlene) Macurdy of Cabot; his sister, Sandra (Robert) Stivenson of Saxonburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Shields “Sonny” Macurdy Jr., Ronald Macurdy and Leon Macurdy, and his sisters, Anna Mae Sample and Geraldine Peiffer.
MACURDY — Friends of Odley G. “Jumbo” “Mac” Macurdy, who died Friday, July 31, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg.Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sarver, with the Rev. Shawn Smith officiating.
