People interested or involved in raising beef, sheep or goats can attend an online seminar by Penn State Extension on those animals from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14.

The webinar is designed for the beginning producer or homesteader looking to become more self-sufficient in beef cattle, sheep or goat production basics.

The information covered will provide an overview on production principals for those animals. Participants will learn about breed selection, feeding, reproduction, health, marketing, pasture management and grazing management.

Instructors will share how to find more detailed information on various aspects of livestock production, as well as basics on cool-season species, grazing schemes and ruminant nutrition. Typical poisonous plants also will be briefly discussed.

People planning to participate must register by 6 p.m. Nov. 14 to receive the link to access the live webinar. A $5 registration fee is required, which will allow participants access to the webinar recording.
