Police: Cranberry man charged in relation to allegedly attacking, strangling another man
A Cranberry Township man was was arrested and charged with strangulation and simple assault after an altercation at a Cranberry Township home on Nov. 17.
Theodore John Pynos III, 35, of Cranberry Township, was charged on Nov. 18 following after police were called to the home of Pynos’ parents on Hastings Drive in Cranberry Township.
Police said they were called to the house at 1 p.m. and that the caller was seeking assistance in a fight between Pynos and one other.
According to the affidavit, the other person involved in the fight said it started after Pynos was asked to leave the house for being “disrespectful.” Police were told that Pynos said to “make me.”
Police said Pynos pushed a person over a chair and onto the ground and then began strangling him with one hand while pinning him to the ground.
The caller corroborated alleged victim’s account on the incident and added that when the alleged victim tried to extricate himself from the situation, Pynos followed him to another room and attacked him again, police said.
During the investigation at the home, Pynos said multiple times that he shoved the alleged victim to the ground and that he had “choked him out,” police said.
Pynos was arrested, taken into custody and arraigned that night, and a preliminary hearing was held Nov. 22. Pynos is being held at the Butler County Prison. A formal arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 7.
