Knight

R. Darlene Knight, 86, of Slippery Rock, passed away at Autumn Grove, Harrisville, on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024.

She was born in Kiowa, Okla., on June 16, 1938, to William Oscar Lawrence and Adelia Saloom Tarwater Lawrence. She married William Burton Knight Sr. on Sept. 22, 1957, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1999.

Darlene was a homemaker. She was an active member of Grove City Alliance Church where she enjoyed fellowship with her church family and singing with others and, on occasion, singing solos. She often arrived early and sat in the same pew each Sunday. Darlene enjoyed sewing and was a voracious reader of word search books. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include five sons and two daughters. They include sons, William Burton Knight Jr. of Harrisville, Jimmy Ray (Theresa) Knight of McKinney, Texas, Roger Dale (Deborah Ann) Knight of Harrisville, Randall Lee (Wendy Ann) Knight of McAlester, Okla., and Ralph Edward Knight of Plano, Texas; and daughters, Patricia Darlene (Randy Gene) Wesley of McAlester, Okla., and Lori Lynn (Ronald Simon) Duffy of Slippery Rock. Also surviving are a sister, Carlene Bleakney of Portersville; stepbrother, Donnie, and stepsister, Karolyn, both of California; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter in-law, Bonnie Jean, wife of William Burton Knight Jr., in 2023; and two brothers, Larry and Grady.

KNIGHT — A private celebration of life service for R. Darlene Knight, who died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, was held Friday, Nov. 29, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Slippery Rock, with Pastors Steve and Paul Renicks, of Grove City Alliance Church, presiding.

A private interment followed, also on Friday, after the service, in North Plain Grove Cemetery, Plain Grove Township, Slippery Rock, Lawrence County.
