Century III Mall demolition project to continue
The demolition project at the Century III Mall in West Mifflin, Allegheny County, got a financial boost Dec. 12.
Lt. Gov. Austin Davis announced the state is investing $1 million to continue the demolition process through a grant which will help retain five local construction jobs and add 150 new construction jobs in the future.
The news follows Gov. Josh Shapiro’s November announcement of nearly $600 million in funding for more than 400 projects across Pennsylvania through the Commonwealth’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.
The Century III Mall project is receiving a $1 million grant to reimburse hard costs and leverage additional private investments to prepare the site for redevelopment.
Shawl Pryor, the CEO of Moonbeam Capital, who owns the Century III Mall property, said the demolition should be done in 12 to 18 months.
