‘Bizet to Brahms’ to feature young musicians of note with symphony
The Butler County Symphony Orchestra welcomes Maestro Daniel Wiley to the podium for the Saturday, March 8, concert “Bizet to Brahms, featuring the music of composers Georges Bizet and Johannes Brahms at Butler’s Intermediate High School Auditorium.
Guest conductor Whiley will be highlighting the symphony’s educational initiatives spotlighting Collegiate Concerto Competition winner Cooper Sluka, along with the Side-by-Side Honors musicians and Young Musicians of Note.
Whiley is one of three finalists for the position of music director of the Butler County Symphony Orchestra. He joined the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Pops and May Festival as their assistant conductor in fall 2022.
The Side-by-Side Honors Program is offered to all high school students who are recommended by their teachers to play with the symphony at the concert. Students prepare a piece of music chosen by Wiley, and rehearse with section leaders of the orchestra to perform “side by side” with the symphony musicians. This year, there are nine students participating from three counties, including five from Butler County.
Local musicians are Jake Pieszak and Isabella Muthler from Seneca Valley School District; and Rylee Mae Colteryahn, Sarah Lucas and Blaise Michael Steele from Butler Area School District.
Reserved seat tickets for “Bizet to Brahms” are available presale at $30 for adults and $10 for children and students by visiting the symphony’s website at butlersymphony.org. Following presale, available tickets are sold at the door on the night of the concert at $35 for adults and $12 for children and students.
