Louise M. Shaffer Basilone

Louise M. Shaffer Basilone, 95, of Cabot passed away Saturday at the Fair Winds Manor.

Born Oct. 27, 1921, in Solley, Md., she was the daughter of Clinton Gurnee and Sarah Keyes Gurnee.

Louise had worked as a clerk for state of Maryland. She was a member of Cabot United Methodist Church, a former member and past president of the Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was engaged in many school and church activities, including the church choir and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed swimming with the senior swim group at Days Inn.

Surviving are her daughters, Leslie (Patrick) Shaffer Russell of Orlando, Fla, and Irene (Robert) Traggiai of Cabot; two stepsons, Frank and John Basilone of Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren, Christopher (Virginia) Traggiai, Angela (David) Murrman and Anthony Traggiai; five great-grandchildren, Caleb, Caden, Carsen, Christopher and John David; one nephew; and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, William H. Shaffer; her second husband, Frank Basilone; one daughter, Margaret Shaffer Snell; her son-in-law, Robert; and one brother, William Gurnee.

BASILONE — There will be no visitation for Louise M. Shaffer Basilone, who died Saturday, July 8, 2017.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cabot United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jason McQueen officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Park Cemetery, New Castle.Memorial donations may be made to the Cabot U.M.
