Lulu B. Dodd, 82, of Bruin, passed away Sunday at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

She was born Nov. 9, 1935, in Clarion County, the daughter of G. Frank and Goldie Belle Henry Servey.

Lulu was a longtime resident of the area and was an active member of Martinsburg Church in Bruin, where she belonged to the Bible study group.

In her younger years, she was gifted at playing the accordion and sang on the radio with her brother, George, who played fiddle, and sister, Edna, who played guitar.

She was a hard worker and formerly worked as a waitress at a diner in Clarion. Lulu was also a housekeeper for many Butler County families and was a janitor for Karns City High School.

For many years, Lulu, along with her husband, Robert, volunteered to do delivery for Meals on Wheels.

Playing cards with Robert and her friends was one of her favorite pastimes, and she was known for making delicious Boston cream cakes.

She will be remembered with love by her daughter, Holly K. Hartzell and her husband, Tom, of Butler; her son, R. Eric Dodd and his wife, Linda, of Butler; her grandchildren, Beth Hageman, Kristen Hageman, Tyler Hartzell, Dylan Dodd and Cearra Dodd; her great-grandchildren, Leyland, Kiara and Olivia; her special brother, George Servey of Shippenville, Pa.; her sister, Jane Smathers of New Bethlehem, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lulu was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Robert R. Dodd, whom she married Jan. 23, 1956, and who died Dec. 17, 2015; her son, Scott D. Dodd, who died Dec. 26, 2011; her brothers, Ed, Harry and Don Servey; and her sisters, Mid, Jessie and Edna.

DODD — The family of Lulu B. Dodd, who died Sunday, May 23, 2018, will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia, with Pastor Jake Adams officiating.
