Albert “Al” Novak, 59, of Butler passed away on Friday in his home, surrounded by family after a two-year battle with cancer.

Born Feb. 17, 1959, in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England, Al was the eldest son of the late Donald Novak and Eileen (Barr) Novak.

He was a 1977 graduate of Penn Hills High School.

He went on to receive a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University in 1981.

Al is survived by his wife, Jodi (Hannigan); two daughters, Megan and Alisha; two brothers, Sean Novak and Danny Novak; four nephews; and three nieces.

He is also survived by Dixie and Gypsy, his dog and bird.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece.
