Lewis M. Safran

Lewis M. Safran of Butler, formerly of Leetsdale, passed away Tuesday.

Born Aug. 29, 1928, he was the son of the late Steve and Louise Poniklo Safran.

Mr. Safran was a member of St. Andrew Parish in Butler and the Good Samaritan Parish in Ambridge for many years. He was also an Eucharistic minister for many years.

He also owned and operated Safrans Market for 50 years.

Mr. Safran was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Ellis Safran, and his siblings, Joseph Safran, Agnes Kovach, Wilma Safran, Cecil Safran, Stanley Safran and Robert Safran.

He was the beloved father of John (Vicki) Safran of Butler and Amy (Craig) Zurko of Bolling Brook, Ill.; the loving grandfather of Alex and Cassidy Safran; and the brother of Helen Hess of Munhall and Jean (Charles) Saltrick of McMurray. He also had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

SAFRAN — Friends of Lewis M. Safran, who died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Kasper-Hahn Funeral and Cremation Services, 547 8th St., Ambridge.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Good Samaritan Church. Burial will take place at the Sylvania Hills Mausoleum.
