Mary Ellen Thompson
Mary Ellen Hesselgesser Thompson, 99, formerly of Leechburg died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.
Born June 19, 1907, in Leasureville, Winfield Township, she was the daughter of John L. and Myrtle Cypher Hesselgesser.
She was a 1926 graduate of Freeport High School, where she belonged to the National Honor Society and the debate team.
Mrs. Thompson had been a dormitory housemother at Clarion University and retired in 1972 after seven years.
She was a member of the Hebron Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leechburg and belonged to the Berean Sunday School Class and the Lutheran Church Women of the church.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane Bures-Hunt of Sarver; a sister, Isabel Eichhorn of Cabot, and a grandson.
Her husband, William McCollum Thompson, died July 6, 1952. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Hesselgesser.
