Company’s oxide emissions lowered in Jackson Twp.
After receiving a notice of violation of a Jackson Township ordinance in August, American Contract Systems has lowered its emissions of ethylene oxide to fit within code established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The EPA released a report Aug. 3 naming ACS as one of several sterilization facilities across the country whose emissions of ethylene oxide were reaching potentially concerning levels for their communities.
American Contract Systems is nationally based in Minnesota and has a facility in Jackson Township that uses ethylene oxide to sterilize medical equipment and materials, according to the company’s website.
